Within the framework of the EU-funded project “ We are here together – European Support to Roma Inclusion”, the representatives of municipalities and towns met a meeting in Arandjelovac in May 2014. The project is implemented by the OSCE Mission in Serbia.
The meeting gathered more than 50 representatives of pilog municipalities and towns taking part in the project and the representatives of the EU Delegation to Serbia.
The heads of municipal/town administrations, Roma coordinators, town planneers and experts for Roma housing discussed and exchanged ideas on concrete aspects of the project that helps Serbian institutions improve the living conditions of Roma through an improved access to basic rights, civic participation, labour market, education, health, adequate housing and new job creation.
An analysis of Roma settlements in 20 pilot municipalities focusing on development and identification of adequate models for improvement of Roma housing and the results of mapping CSOs in pilot municipalities were presented.
An initiative to establish a Forum for Cooperation of the 20 pilot municipalties as a platform for exchange of information and best practices was launched.
