A project aimed at preparing the educational system in Serbia for the introduction of a new concept of final examinations in secondary education has started this year.
This concept, among other things, involves all students taking a national final exam at the same time, and for faculties to accept this examination as the basis for students enrolling, without entrance exams.
The goal of the project is to prepare the educational system and provide support to the line ministry in the process of drafting, piloting and implementing final examinations in secondary education.
The new concept was used to develop a Rulebook on the general and arts graduation and a Rulebook on the vocational graduation and final examination at the end of three-year vocational secondary education.
Project activities will involve secondary school teachers and university professors, jointly preparing the examination tests – exam questions based on student achievement standards and qualification standards. Commissions, formed for each subject that has a defined general and specific competence and achievement standards in secondary education, have the obligation of preparing manuals for teachers and materials for students. The same is expected of the commissions preparing questions for vocational subjects.
Schools and faculties will have a number of trainings during the project to be well prepared for implementing the final examinations.
The project “Improvement of the quality of secondary education through the introduction of final examinations (general, arts and vocational graduation and final examination at the end of three-year secondary vocational education)” is being financed by pre-accession funds for 2015 (IPA 2015), with the planned duration of three years.
