The Summary of the study “Effectiveness of Systemic Mechanisms for Preventing Violence against Women and Family Violence” by authors mr Tanja Ignjatović, dr Dragica Pavlović Babić and mr Marija Lukić was published by the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the Autonomous Women’s Centre from Belgrade.
The issue of assessing the effectiveness of current mechanisms for preventing violence against women was initiated by the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, aiming to contribute to improving the coordination between systemic mechanisms providing protection and support to women and other victims of family violence on the one hand, and registering bottlenecks within those mechanisms and offer recommendations for overcoming them on the other. The activities include an overview of the situation based on existing records and empirical data collected by qualitative research, as well as formulating conclusion and recommendations. The activities were implemented by Autonomous Women’s Centre, cooperating on creating the methodology, implementing fieldwork and interpreting the data with representatives of the Institute for Psychology of the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.
The publication on the effectiveness of systemic mechanisms for preventing violence against women consists of three sections: the first presents an overview of existing strategic and legal solutions and their application, as well as key findings of relevant research in this area during the last ten years; the second presents research findings on the effectiveness and harmonization of system mechanisms for preventing violence against women, viewed from the perspective of professionals from all competent protection services, and the third, based on all the collected data and a consultative process with representatives of state bodies, draws conclusion and recommendations.
The preparation of the publication was enabled by the funds of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation within the project “Support to Improving the Social Inclusion Process in the Republic of Serbia”.
