The Commissariat for Refugees and Migrations of the Republic of Serbia stated on 5 October that the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation is continuing to help our country in receiving and caring for migrants through the Commissariat.
The notice states that this agency has been present since the very beginning of the crisis and that it financially helped equip reception centres and meet the basic needs of migrants, but also provided technical assistance in the form of migration experts.
Providing support to the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration through the project “Support for the National Coordination of Returnee Reintegration – Phase II” is just part of the assistance the Government of Switzerland is sending to Serbia to successfully respond to the challenges occurring as a consequence of the increased influx of migrants. The total budget for the project is, as explained, 600,000 Swiss francs.
The cooperation of Serbia and Switzerland in the field of migration was established in 2009.
On behalf of the Swiss Secretariat of State for Migration (SEM), the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) is implementing projects in the field of migration management and support for migrants as part of the migration partnership established with Serbia and other Balkans countries. The Commissariat for Refugees and Migration of the Republic of Serbia is one of the key partners within this successful migration partnership, the notice adds.
