On 23 May, the Minister of Public Administration and Local Self-government of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabić stated that after 15 years, the Budget fund for national minorities from the Budget allocation of the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-government had been reactivated.
During the session of the National Minority Council, Ms. Brnabić emphasised that apart from regular funds received by councils from the Office for Human and Minority Rights, additional funds had been allocated in the amount of RSD 1, 800,000, and added that these funds were intended for financing projects in the field of providing public information.
The most important issues for the promotion of the rights of national minorities were discussed during the session. The members of the Council were presented with the first and second Report on the implementation of the Action Plan for Minorities, implemented and planned activities by state bodies, as well as legal solutions to which amendments are currently being made.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Public Administration and Local Self-government the session was attended by the representatives of national minority councils, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Culture and Information, Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, the Office for Human and Minority Rights and the Office for Cooperation with Churches and Religious Communities.
