On 26 September, the Minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia responsible for demography and population policy, Slavica Đukić-Dejanović, attended the first meeting of the Focus Group which was established in order to perform a monitoring role for the Parliament within the process of implementation of sustainable development goals prescribed by the UN 2030 Agenda
Mrs. Đukić-Dejanović, who is also the Head of the Interdepartmental Working Group for the implementation of UN 2030 Agenda, stated that the implementation had produced results which needed to be harmonised with the opening of chapters within the EU accession negotiation process.
She explained that the UN 2030 Agenda included 17 goals and 169 targets for sustainable development and that it was mainly focused on activities relating to poverty reduction, improving living standards, healthcare, and the education system, as well as environmental protection, gender equality, and reduction of inequality.
The first meeting of the Focus Group for the Development of Control Mechanisms for the Process of Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in the Republic of Serbia was held in order to review the results, and Sustainable Development Goals achieved so far, as well as to define future activities.
