On the third meeting of the Governing Board of the Regional Youth Cooperation Office of the Western Balkans (RYCO), held on 22 March 2017 in Berlin, all Contracting Parties (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo*, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Serbia) reached a unanimous decision which confirmed the appointment of Đorđe Blanuša, the candidate from Serbia, as the Secretary General of this inter-governmental regional organisation.
The principles and values on which the Regional Youth Cooperation Office of the Western Balkans is based are peace, trust based on mutual understanding, respect of human rights, solidarity and cooperation, non-discrimination, tolerance, respect and appreciation of diversity as the basis for democratic progress in modern society.
In accordance with the Statute , the mandate of RYCO is to support youth projects that are aimed at and contribute to promoting diversity and democratic values, enhancing sustainable regional cooperation among young people, and establishing new relations among young people in the Western Balkans region; fostering reconciliation and constructive approaches to remembrance, inter-cultural learning, increasing regional mobility, and promoting the European spirit of cooperation, understanding, and tolerance; civic activism and participation of young people in decision-making processes; social inclusion and improvement of employment opportunities for young people.
