The European Commission has published the Report on the State of the Long-term Care System in 35 Countries in Europe.
The Report includes four major challenges, which are common to all European countries:
- Access and adequacy of providing support within the long-term care system;
- Quality of home assistance services, and institutional services;
- Employment of informal carers, as well as
- Financial sustainability of the long-term care system.
The Report highlights the fact that the pressure on long-term care systems will increase due to changes in the structure of the population and establishes recommendations for the improvement of these systems.
You can download the entire publication, as well as reports for each country separately, at the ec.europa.eu.
