On 25 May, the State Secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Nenad Ivanišević attended the presentation of the results of a project which lasted 18 months called “Economic Empowerment of Roma Women: Improving Capacities for Employment and Self-employment”.
On the meeting held in the EU Info Centre, Mr. Ivanišević, who is also the President of the Council for the Improvement of the Status of Roma and Implementation of the Decade of Roma Inclusion in Serbia, said that the state would continue to empower the Roma community, primarily by educating them so they would be able to respond to the requirements of the labour market adequately.
With the implementation of this Project 109 Roma men and women successfully completed envisaged courses and received certificates.
The Project is funded by the European Union within a broader Project called “European Union Support to Inclusive Society” which is worth EUR 5.4 million
“Economic Empowerment of Roma Women: Improving Capacities for Employment and Self-employment” project is implemented by the Roma Women’s Centre “Bibija”, Association of Roma Novi Bečej, and the Roma Women’s Centre from Veliki Crljani.
