The Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia (SIPRU) has published the Review of the Data on Roma Social Inclusion Measures in Cities and Municipalities in 2019.
The review was compiled based on the data entered into the Database for Monitoring Roma Inclusion Measures by local self-governments (LSG), as well as based on the relevant reports on and mechanisms for monitoring the implementation of the Strategy for Social Inclusion of the Roma 2016–2025, in particular: the Operational Conclusions formulated at the Seminar on Social Inclusion of the Roma in the Republic of Serbia, the Recommendations on the Implementation of the Action Plan for Chapter 23 – Judiciary and Fundamental Rights and the Report on the Implementation of the Action Plan for the Implementation of the Strategy.
The Database for Monitoring Roma Inclusion Measures is a valuable tool for efficient planning, implementation and monitoring policy implementation at the national and local levels, which enables data storage, safekeeping and access. It includes statistical and textual information about Roma inclusion measures, provided by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Health, the National Employment Service, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia and local self-governments.
As a contribution to Strategy implementation monitoring, the data on Roma social inclusion measures in 2019 at the city and municipal level was entered into the Database by 96 LSGs in the period 18 May – 24 July 2019. The data are primarily related to the Strategy’s priority areas (education, employment, housing, health care), as well as to the operation of the local Roma inclusion mechanisms (Roma coordinators, pedagogical assistants, health mediators, Roma inclusion mobile teams).
The system was developed within the “European Support for Roma Inclusion”, a project financed by the European Union and implemented by the OSCE Mission to Serbia. Supported by the Government of Switzerland through the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia is responsible for the technical maintenance and further development of the Database for Monitoring Roma Inclusion Measures.
