Training on the prevention of violence against women with disabilities in residential institutions was held on 4 and 5 February in Belgrade, organized by the Initiative for the Rights of Persons with Mental Disabilities MDRI-S and the Association of Citizens FemPlatz. The two-day training was attended by 23 women from various organizations across Serbia, along with four women living in residential institutions.
The training is aimed at civil society organizations working to protect women from violence, promote and protect human rights, organizations and associations of persons with disabilities, service providers for persons with disabilities, with a special focus on girls and women.

The training programme is being implemented as part of the project “Accessibility of Services for Women with Disabilities who have Experienced Violence in Residential Institutions”, supported by the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women.
The training on the prevention of violence against women with disabilities in residential institutions has been attended by about 80 representatives of civil society organizations and about 20 women with mental disabilities with a history of institutionalization.
