The Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Zoran Đorđević, announced that the Ministry is planning to earmark an additional RSD 170 million by the end of 2017 for re-qualification to the IT sector. Due to requalification, 100 persons have already entered the sector through the National Employment Service, while the Ministry is continuing the trend and allocating funds for the training of another 900 persons.
He recalled that RSD 2.8 billion was provided in 2017 for the implementation of active employment policy measures, already allocated by the National Employment Service for the implementation of planned measures.
According to data by the National Employment Service, the unemployment rate is currently at 14.6 percent in the first quarter, representing 4.4 index points less than the same period last year, with a tendency of further decrease.
During the period January-July this year 159,471 persons have been employed, representing an increase of 3.5 percent compared to the same period last year.
The positive trend of increasing employment and reducing unemployment between Q1 2016 and Q1 2017 was also reflected on youth aged 15 to 24 years, by 7.1 percent.
The most sought-after positions are IT experts, graduate mechanical engineers, and electrical engineers, while among lower education level profiles, salespersons, drivers, tailors and cooks find it easiest to find employment.
