The Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Zoran Đorđević held talks with the Director of the UNICEF Office in Serbia Michel Saint-Lot on 29 August on intensifying the cooperation of the two institutions in several areas.
Đorđević expressed gratitude on the selfless support provided by UNICEF to Serbia, with a desire for additional improvements to the cooperation, particularly in the field of support for vulnerable categories of children.
Saint-Lot, congratulating Đorđević for the appointment as Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, noted that Serbia is an example of a humane and responsible approach to migrants.
– UNICEF is using the opportunity to always uphold Serbia as an example of humanity and positive practice, and we wish to develop further cooperation under all areas recognized as a priority by the Ministry – he said.
The meeting recognized family counselling services, the development of local social welfare institutions, as well as the promotion of the National Strategy for the Protection of Children from Violence as areas where the Ministry and UNICEF will intensify cooperation.
