During his visit to Vršac, Head of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Serbia, Michael Davenport said that this was one of the most successful municipalities in using the EU pre-accession funds and that other municipalities and towns in Serbia should follow its example.
He visited the Technological Park, Agriko market and Regional Centre of Cultural Heritage of Banat built or renewed by the money from the EU funds. Head of the European Union Delegation reminded that when he visited Vršac for the first time, there had been a meadow in the place where the Technological Park was built, adding that “now there are 10 companies which employ a few thousands of people with a great potential for further investments and development”.
“This is the way that other municipalities and towns in Serbia should follow. Such efficient usage of the EU funds should also be guidelines for others”, Davenport said.
Čedomir Živković, the President of the Municipality of Vršac, said that this municipality managed to obtain more than 10 million euros from the EU funds, expressing hope that Vršac would be successful in the future too. “We would like further to develop our town and region and we need the support of economy of Vršac but of the EU too”, Živković added.
