Organized by the Belgrade Open School, in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the conference “Youth Employment and Career Guidance and Counselling” was held in Belgrade, on the occasion of presenting the results of the survey on the measurement of the effects of career guidance and counselling regarding youth employment.
During the opening statements the speakers particularly emphasized that career guidance and counselling, as interdisciplinary areas of education, employment and youth policy, manage to achieve the desired outcome, as well as that the development of fact-based policies requires continued surveys and research.
The survey showed that the employability of youth using career guidance and counselling services in youth offices is, according to all parameters, higher than for youth who were not users of such services. During the year after the provision of services, the number of employed youth increased by over 22 percent, and the number of those engaged part-time by nearly 15 percent. Such surveys have been implemented in Serbia since 2013, therefore the results of this survey are more than encouraging, and to this end the results of another project supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports are expected, that will show the effects of using career guidance and counselling services on the employability of youth, primarily secondary school students.
