Social enterprises are organizations basing activism, social engagement and humanitarian work on innovative, entrepreneurial solutions. Currently there are 1196 social enterprises operating in Serbia, contributing through their work to employment, education, culture, the inclusion of persons with disabilities, environmental protection, development of organic farming, healthcare, etc. Social enterprises in Serbia employ 10,326 persons. Half of this number are persons from hard to employ categories – persons over 50 years of age, women victims of family violence, youth with intellectual impairments, homeless, persons with disabilities, persons with mental health issues, former addicts, etc.
