Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy & Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn and Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland met on April 11 in Brussels for the finalization of the Horizontal Instrument of the European Union and European Council for Western Balkans and Turkey. The Commissioner and the Secretary General issued the following statement:
“The initiative will support the judiciary reform, fight against corruption and organized crime, protection of rights of vulnerable groups and promotion of policies for the fight against discrimination. These are the crucial issues for citizens but also key elements in respecting European standards.
European Commission will provide EUR 20 million, and the Council of Europe EUR 5 million, for the period of three years as a support for the initiative. (…)”
