The Government of Serbia submitted the Action Plan for the Chapter 24 to the EU members for review. After the Council of the EU adopts it, Serbia will be requested to submit its negotiating position, the members of the negotiating team of Serbia for negotiations on the EU membership said on 16 October. According to the Plan, Serbia will create the first organized crime threat assessment by the Europol methodology, as well as create the strategy for the fight against terrorism which should be adopted by the middle of 2016. The European Commission is satisfied with the operational plan for migration, created as part of the Action Plan preparation for the Chapter 24. Serbia considers that the EU should provide greater financial help in this area, the representatives of the negotiating team said in the meeting of the National Convention on the EU about the preparations for opening this chapter.
Tanja Miščević, Head of the Negotiating Team for Negotiations with the EU, said that the European Commission gave a very positive opinion on the Action Plan for the Chapter 24 – Justice, Freedom and Security.
The following steps of the negotiating group for the Chapter 24 implies working on the negotiating position as well as on the mechanism of monitoring and reporting on the action plan which would be finalized upon the adoption of the negotiating position. The preparation of the software application for monitoring the implementation of the Action Plan which will be created by the Ministry of Interior is also planned.
The Plan also stipulates adopting the Law on foreigners, asylum and organization and jurisdiction of state authorities in the fight against organized crime.
