German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Thursday, 27 August, in Vienna, that she cannot say the exact date when the first chapter in Serbia’s negotiations with the EU will be opened, but many preconditions for this have already been created.
“Numerous preconditions were created to open the first chapter. I can say we will be fair and you can count on us not to come up with new conditions”, said Angela Merkel at the press conference during the summit of Western Balkans countries.
She stated that first, analyses will be done of what is achieved, and noted that Serbia is now much closer to opening the chapter than it was prior to signing the agreement with Priština.
