The European Commission adopted the Adriatic Ionian Transnational Cooperation Programme 2014-2020 on 20 October 2015. The aim of the programme is to provide support to transnational cooperation projects strengthening the economic, social and territorial cohesion in the Adriatic– Ionian region. The programme is focused on encouraging innovations, preserving the environment, advancing connections and supporting the management of the EU Strategy in the Adriatic–Ionian region. The programme area comprises the territories of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.
83.4 million euros were allocated from the European Regional Development Fund while 16 million euros were provided from the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA II). The total value of the Programme, with the national co-financing, is 118 million euros.
