The University of Niš published the “Education in the Field of Social Work and Social Policies for the XXI Century” publication, created under the auspices of the project “Strengthening Higher Education for Social Policy Making and Social Services Delivery”, Financed by the European Commission, or more precisely, EACEA (Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency) as part of the European Union TEMPUS programme.
The implementation of the project “Strengthening Higher Education for Social Policy Making and Social Services Delivery” started on 1 December 2013 and will last for three years. The joint participation of all partner universities and professional associations on this project should provide for the creation of new teaching programmes at all three levels of studies, developing competences for future employees in various segments of the social protection system.
The Study “Education in the Field of Social Work and Social Policies for the XXI Century” was created based on the results of the survey, as well as research in regards to the extent to which the existing educational programmes at the three largest universities in Serbia (University of Belgrade, University of Novi Sad and University of Niš) can offer knowledge and competences to future employed experts dealing with issues of social work and creating social policies. The needs of contemporary society are geared towards increasing social inclusion and decreasing poverty, as priority social goals. The education system needs to move towards these significant social processes by constant modernization of existing teaching contents and developing new teaching programmes.
