The European Commission proposed development of the European platform to combat undeclared work so that the EU could more efficiently prevent and deter undeclared work.
The platform will assemble all the relevant national authorities such as work inspectorates, taxation and migration authorities and other stakeholders in the fight against undeclared work which significantly damages competition and public budgets and leads to deterioration of working conditions.
Gray economy reduces the European GDP by 15-20%.
The platform will also contribute to raising awareness of the issue through joint activities including campaigns and adoption of regional regional or EU-wide strategies. The establishment of the platform is expected to cost EUR 2.1 million/annum and it is to be funded through the EU Employment and Social Innovation Programme.
