By donating to the project “Strengthening the Serbian statistical system by upgrading methodologies and standards and by the appliance of good practice,” the European Union will continue to provide support to the Serbian statistical system to develop and improve the statistical system in accordance with requirements of the process of approximation to the European Statistical System. The implementation of this project, funded by the European Union with EUR 3.5 million, was announced on a conference held in Belgrade.
The project, whose main beneficiary is the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia (SORS), is focused on further development of the Statistical Office ICT system, improvement of the national account system regarding the preparation of Supply and Use Tables, as well as on the enhancement of the current development of the new Sustainable Development Indicators. These activities are in line with requirements of the process of approximation of Serbian Statistical System with the European Statistical System.
Within this project, the European Union has also donated EUR 600,000 to SORS, thus providing the new infrastructure for the Data Processing Centre, network infrastructure, servers, computers and other peripheral equipment. The donation is very important, both for the implementation of the project and future activities of SORS.
The project is being implemented by a consortium led by a German company GOPA; the implementation started in April 2016, and it will last until December 2017.
