The first coordination meeting about the projects for implementation of the Strategy for Improvement of the Situation and Status of Roma in the Republic of Serbia was held on 16 June 2014. The meeting ws organised by the Office for Human and Minority Rights in cooperation with the Serbian EU Integration Office and Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia.
The initiative aims to establish mechanisms of regular information exchange about all the activities planned and implemented by way of support to the process of improvement of the situation of Roma in the Republic of Serbia.
Exchange of information between the beneficiaries, donors and project implementation temas should contribute to transparency of projects related to improvement of the situation of Roma, a more efficient use of budget and donor funds as well as to better results of the process through the existing institutional mecnanisms such as the Council for Improvement of the Situation of Roma, Strategiy and Action Plan and coordination mechanisms at the local level.
The Office for Human and Minority Rights developed a Communication Plan with the support of EC IPA 2011 project “Implementation of Anti-Discriminatory Policies“. Together with the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit it will coordinate development of a Report on Implementation of Operational Conclusions of the Seminar about Inclusion of Roma in the Republic of Serbia, that the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the EC convened in June 2013.
The Office for Human and Minority Rights is implementing the project “Technical support of the OHMR to implemenation of the Strategy for Improvement of the Situation of Roma in the Republic of Serbia“, in partnership with the OSCE Mission in Serbia, donor funds of the Swedish Agency for International Development and Cooperation.
