On July 12, the representatives of the Government of the Republic of Serbia and the European Commission signed the Financial Agreement, which approved the first EUR 39.7 million, from the total amount of EUR 196.6 million, allocated to Serbia under the Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPAII) for 2015. Minister without portfolio responsible for European Integration and National IPA Coordinator, Jadranka Joksimović announced that two other financial agreements would be signed in the coming period, one for EUR 80 million and the other for EUR 76.9 million.
The funds are intended for the implementation of projects in the areas of judicial reform and interior affairs, as well as for the projects contributing to the process of negotiations and harmonisation with the EU regulations.
The programme would, among other, finance the capacity building in the fight against organised crime, money laundering and terrorism, strengthening of the internal control within the Ministry of Interior Affairs in the fight against corruption, the establishment of an efficient system for emergencies, the implementation of the Action Plan for Chapter 23, and the improvement of the efficiency of the prosecutor’s office.
