The Interreg IPA programme of cross-border cooperation Bulgaria-Serbia for 2014-2020 with a value of EUR 28.9 million, was presented on 18 September at the Town Hall in Niš. The first public call within this programme, with earmarked EUR 12.6 million, is open between 17 August 2015 and 18 January 2016, intended for joint projects in the priority areas – sustainable tourism, youth and environmental protection.
The funds from the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme are intended for both countries, and the basic goal is establishing balanced and sustainable development of the border region between Bulgaria and Serbia, primarily by planning economic growth, adapting to climate changes and improving the education system.
Within the IPA programme of cross-border cooperation Bulgaria – Serbia during the 2007-2013 period 155 projects were implemented with a total value of around EUR 35 million.
