A survey published on 22 February in the British medical journal Lancet showed that life expectancy should continue to extend in developed countries, and by 2030 it should exceed 90 years for women in countries such as South Korea, France and Japan. The researchers stated that the life expectancy for men will increase and that the gender gap will decrease by 2030. Serbia is among the countries with the lowest life expectancy increase for both men and women.
According to the statistical data published last year by the World Health Organisation, three countries with the longest lifespan in 2015 were Japan (86.6 years), Singapore (86.1 years), and Spain (85.5 years) for women; Switzerland (81.3 years), Island (81.2 years), and Australia (80.9 years) for men.
According to the scale included in the latest survey published in the British magazine The Guardian, life expectancy in Serbia was little over 70 years in 2010 for men, and it is expected that by 2030 it will increase to 74 years. The life expectancy for women in Serbia was 75.5 years in 2010, and it is expected that it will increase to 78 years by 2030.
The Republic of Serbia, together with the United States of America, Japan, Sweden and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia is among the countries with the lowest expected increase in life expectancy for women and men.
