During 2019, the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia (SIPRU) and the Youth with Disabilities Forum, in cooperation with the National Employment Service (NES), realised a joint initiative and prepared the Manual for Counsellors for Employment of Persons with Disabilities.
The initiative aimed to ensure the systemic sustainability of inclusive procedures for the employment of persons with disabilities. This cooperation is based on the results of the conducted testing of the employment procedure for persons with disabilities in practice, which was performed by the Youth with Disabilities Forum as part of the project “Internship for Youth with Disabilities”. This project is a part of the broader programme “Education to Employment”, which is being implemented by the Social Inclusion and Poverty Reduction Unit of the Government of the Republic of Serbia with the support of the Government of Switzerland.
The main goal of this Manual is to provide guidelines for working with persons with disabilities to employment counsellors for persons with disabilities working in the National Employment Service and its branches. The Manual offers a number of tips and practical recommendations for communication with people with disabilities who are looking for a job, as well as guidelines for developing an individual employment plan and involving people with disabilities in its preparation. In addition, the Manual provides guidance to employers on how to create an inclusive work environment and adapt the workplace to people with disabilities.
