Since they were founded somewhat over two years ago, mobile Roma inclusion teams have improved the lives of many for the better, providing daily assistance in the field, noted Suzana Paunović, director of the Office for Human and Minority Rights. Paunović opened the conference “Roma Inclusion – Challenges and Opportunities at the Local Level” in Smederevo, as part of the project “We Are Here Together – European Support for Roma Inclusion”.
Speaking of the importance of the established mobile teams, Paunović stated that whether it is assistance in child education, issuing healthcare ID cards or responding to questions regarding employment, the constant presence of mobile teams in the field and their work on resolving problems are of key importance. The result of this hard work is that the mobile teams became a key resource in their communities and an important mechanisms for the achievement of local and national goals for Roma inclusion, assessed Paunović.
Those present had the opportunity to see a brief demonstration of the Database for Monitoring Measures on Roma Inclusion, as well as an exhibition of urban plans for settlements recognized as a priority by municipalities.
