Protocol on Greater Participation of Women in Business Signed

rodna ravnopravnostDeputy Prime Minister Zorana Mihajlović, president of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce Marko Čadež and president of the Association of Businesswomen of Serbia Sanja Popović Pantić signed the Protocol on Cooperation for the implementation of the programme “Women in the Private Sector”.

The Protocol aims to provide assistance and support to companies planning to stimulate greater participation of women and contribute to gender equality in the workplace.

Mihajlović, also the chairwoman of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality, stated after the signing of the Protocol that the goal is to help increase women’s inclusion in business, as well as to provide support for large companies to make plans and use the potential in women regarding their knowledge, work and experience.

She stated the Protocol is only the beginning of cooperation, that the Coordination Body and the Government will endeavour to contribute through specific measures to facilitate in obtaining credit and help companies respect the law and make plans in accordance with the principles of gender equality.

Mihajlović said that there are few women in Parliament, the Government, but also in business, since a large number of women are unemployed and economically dependent.

“It is important for all of us to get involved and help women become employed,” said Mihajlović.

The Programme was initiated by the World Bank, implemented by a team comprised of representatives of the Coordination Body for Gender Equality, the Ministry of Labour, the Association of Businesswomen of Serbia, the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and gender equality experts.

The call for participation in the programme was answered by six companies, and the programme implementation team will provide them with support and assistance in drafting a plan of measures to improve gender equality in the working environment.

Among the companies responding to the call are: Logo doo, AMC-Afrodite mode collection doo, Al Grošo doo, Hemofarm ad, Telekomunikacija doo, Nopal Lux doo.

One of the goals of the programme is also the promotion of such companies planning to implement measures to secure gender equality in the workplace.
