On 24 July, the Ministry of European Integration announced that, according to the public opinion poll, conducted in June, in which 1,064 respondents older than 18 took part, 49% of citizens of Serbia support its membership to the EU.
The results of the “European Orientation of Serbian Citizens” public opinion poll indicate that, if the referendum were to be held tomorrow with the question – “Do you support Serbian membership in the EU?”, 49% of the Serbian citizens would be in favour, 27% would be against, 13% would not vote, while 11% would be undecided.
Support for the reforms, as in previous years, is high; 66% of the respondents think that the reforms which are necessary for the EU accession should be implemented even if they were not considered a precondition for Serbian membership in the EU, but merely for the well-being of the citizens and improved state regulation.

The reforms that follow are better consumer protection (9%), as well as environmental protection (7%) and the protection of human rights (7%).
For the majority of respondents, 17% EU membership still represents more opportunities for employment, road towards the better future for young people (16%), the chance to move freely within the EU borders (14 percent), as well as the chance to regulate the situation in the country (12%).
