The roundtable “Importance of Promotion of Global Education among Youth” was held at the EU Info Centre on Friday, 18 November, as part of the celebration of the Week of Global Education (12-20 November 2016).
The subject of this event was the level of knowledge of young people in Serbia today about the principles of global education and how important is it for young people, to make them citizens of the world through their knowledge, capabilities and attitudes. This issue was addressed from the aspect of informal education by Snežana Klašnja, Assistant Minister for Youth, particularly noting the role and significance of the “Youth is the Law” programme, because it stimulates young people to associate and aims them towards social activism in order to implement small initiatives improving the quality of life of young people in local communities. Snežana Marković, Assistant Minister for Secondary Education, spoke of the ways that knowledge, attitudes and skills for global citizenship are being adopted in schools, primarily through a horizontal approach and the development of horizontal competencies.
The roundtable was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Media Education Centre and Umbrella Organization of the Youth of Serbia, with the support of EU Info Centre.
