The European Union Audit Court in Luxemburg stated on 13 January that the financial support of 1.2 bn. EUR for the period 2007-13, envisaged for preparing Serbia for EU accession, is entirely well used. The court noted that the funds from the IPA pre-accession programme, with other forms of support, helped Serbia implement social and economic reforms and improve public finance management. The court gave a number of recommendations to the European Commission aiming to further improve the programming and implementation of IPA projects in Serbia.
Currently, the European Commission, as the notice states, based on experiences from other EU IPA programme beneficiary countries, emphasizes good governance when planning financial and non-financial support to Serbia.
The European auditors recommended the Commission should, aiming to improve the programming, design and implementation of IPA projects in Serbia, increase the transparency of determining priority projects and better document the selection process, as well as make use of experiences from previous projects in Serbia and other IPA beneficiary countries.
