The Minister of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs of the Government of the Republic of Serbia Zoran Đorđević said on 26 October that Serbia has proven itself to be a responsible state that may serve, in regards to its treatment of migrants and unaccompanied minors among them, as an example for others. Speaking at the roundtable “Social Inclusion in the Republic of Serbia”, Đorđević assessed that these kinds of events contribute to implementing specific activities that raise childcare to a higher level, expressing gratitude to international organizations on the assistance they provide to Serbia during the migrant crisis.
As part of the “Social Inclusion in the Republic of Serbia” roundtable, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, the Ministers without Portfolio competent for demographics and population policy, the Red Cross of Serbia, the city municipality of Savski Venac, the City of Novi Sad, the City of Kragujevac and the City of Niš.
A Memorandum of Understanding was also signed between the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, the UN High Commissariat for Refugees and the association “Power of Friendship” – Amity.
A contract was also signed on awarding donor funds between the organization “Save the Children International” in Serbia and the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs, regarding the implementation of the project “Evaluation of standards and procedures for maintaining the security of children in accommodation centres for children from the migrant and refugee population within the territory of the Republic of Serbia”.
