On 29 September the Council of Europe adopted a directive which will bind 6,000 largest companies in the EU to submit regular reports on non-financing results of operations, and on their impact on the society and environment. That same day, the report “CSR in Serbia – analysis and best practices” of the Forum of Business Leaders was presented in the embassy of Holland in Serbia. The report shows that Serbia lags behind the EU as per corporate responsibility standards, and the incentives for charity of companies, in particular in the domain of regulation of employment relations and environmental protection and as per unstimulating taxation policy for corporate philanthropy.
The companies investing into the community themselves benefit from it, is one of the messages stressed at the report presentation event. In 2013, the companies – members of the Forum invested RSD 424 million into local communities, RSD 80.8 million into working environment, RSD 594 million into environmental protection . The employee donations amounted to RSD 2.5 million and the pecuniary value of their volonteer work would amount to RSD 3.4 million, states the syrvey on the contribution of the Forum members, including non-pecuniary investments.
