The project “Development of Municipal Vitality through Overcoming the Migrant Crisis”, financed by the Government of Japan, is being implemented with the aim of reducing religious, racial and ethnic intolerance towards migrants, as well as warning of intensified radicalism at the local level. The project aims to achieve this through informing citizens and involving civil society organizations in education and community empowerment processes.
Grants will be awarded to civil society organizations (CSO), youth organizations and youth offices to raise awareness of the human rights of migrants, women, children, as well as vulnerable populations in local communities. Strengthening social cohesion in local environments and creating stable communities leads to achieving the potential for easier acceptance of migrants, as well as mitigating all those problems and fears listed by citizens as troubling. The implementation of project activities, in addition to the promotion of human rights and universal values, will improve the capacities of municipalities/towns and thus create a stable base for a more resistant infrastructure in case of new crises.
The deadline for submissions is 1 August 2016, 5:00 PM.
