Economic growth in Serbia will accelerate to 3.5% in 2017, compared to this year’s 2.5%, primarily due to investments, while domestic consumption will have a more significant impact only during subsequent years, the World Bank stated on 22 November. Serbia is recommended not to halt the reforms, but also to keep in mind the protection of those under poverty. Jobs are mostly being opened illegally. The region of Europe and Central Asia, regarded as a whole, marks poor growth and decisive measures are needed to improve the situation, avoiding solutions that produced results in the past, but are no longer fit for the circumstances.
Structural reforms are useful for future income increase in society as a whole, but the impact of overall structural reform in the short term may represent a challenge for poverty reduction, therefore requiring measures to mitigate such effects. The report “Economic Update for Europe and Central Asia” was presented in Bucharest.
