The Youth Policy Forum, attended by more than 130 representatives of civil society organisations, ministries, institutes and institutions at the local and national levels, as well as youth wings of political parties, trade unions, youth umbrella federations and international organisations, was held on 25 May at the Assembly of the City of Belgrade. The Forum was organised by the National Youth Council of Serbia (KOMS), supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the City of Belgrade and the EU Info Centre, as part of the “Iskorak” (Breakthrough) project.
The Forum presented the report by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, as well as the draft alternative report on the position of youth, prepared by KOMS. After the plenary session the work continued in groups, before going back to the plenary mode once more at the end of the Forum for adoption of conclusions and recommendations.
The key identified problems, which can also be seen as opportunities, were the need for intersectoral cooperation, a higher degree of youth activism and the elimination of barriers in the society with a view to providing equal, legally guaranteed opportunities for all. The Forum conclusions and recommendations focused on the development of partnerships and intersectoral cooperation in the field of youth policy in Serbia, through identified opportunities and threats in the areas of active youth participation in decision-making, youth workers and socially vulnerable youth groups.
