“PRAKSAM – Programme of Quality Internships” Conference Held

PRAKSAMThe Belgrade Open School (BOS) organized the conference “PRAKSAM – Programme of Quality Internships” at StarIT Centre in Belgrade on 24 April 2017. The conference was attended by representatives of the public, business and civil sector, as well as interns from this year’s project PRAKSAM – Introduction of youth to the world of labour through internships.

Following the initial address, certificates were presented to the interns and diplomas to the companies having taken successful part in the PRAKSAM project. During the second part of the conference, the participants had the opportunity to attend parallel working sessions. During the session Quality Internships in the Vision of a Dual Education System, there was discussion with representatives of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Serbian Chamber of Commerce on the planned activities for the introduction of dual education, the opportunities offered by this model for reducing youth unemployment, as well as challenges regarding support to youth during learning at work in companies.

During the session Importance of Selection and Onboarding Programmes for Successful Internships, there was discussion with representatives of companies and practitioners about internships as a source of recruitment of new employees, types of internships being advertised, the challenges of harmonizing the expectations of youth and employers, as well as the competences and knowledge expected from interns during the selection process. During the conference the participants had the opportunity to see the Praksam film for the first time, with interns from this year’s programme participating in its development.

The conference “PRAKSAM – Programme of Quality Internships” was implemented as part of the project ”PRAKSAM – Introduction of Youth to the World of Labour through Internships”, financially supported by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, implemented by the Belgrade Open School in partnership with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce and the US Chamber of Commerce.
