The Minister of Education of the Republic of Serbia, Srđan Verbić signed an agreement on participation of Serbia in the “Horizon 2020” in Brussels on 1 July. “Horizon 2020” is an EU research, innovation and technological development programme ensuring EUR 80 billion over the next seven years. Serbia is very interested and has the capacities to accept projects and absorb funds from this programme, and this is evident in the areas of information technologies, food and agriculture and energy.

Verbić stressed Serbia’s past record of successful implementation of more than 300 programmes related to science, research and said that the new programme “Horizon 2020″ will involve small and medium-size enterprises from the EU and the country joining the programme.
