Symposium “Common Vision – Youth Employment in Serbia” Held

yepsThe symposium “Common Vision – Youth Employment in Serbia” was held on 22 and 23 September in Belgrade. The professional conference was organized by the German organization for international cooperation GIZ, on the occasion of initiating a national dialog to stimulate youth employment in Serbia, gathering in one place representatives of the competent ministries, local and international experts in the reform of education policies in accordance with market needs, and representatives of non-government organizations working in this field. The professional dialog was also actively participated in by macroeconomic experts of the Fiscal Council of the Republic of Serbia, representatives of business associations and renowned companies operating in Serbia, as well as successful young entrepreneurs, representatives of youth associations and unemployed youth.

The event served to present the new project “Youth Employment Promotion”, implemented with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) by GIZ in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sport, and the support of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development, Ministry of Economy and Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veteran and Social Issues, aiming to significantly improve the conditions for the employment and self-employment of youth in Serbia.

The symposium was organized intending to define the most efficient mechanisms for the strategic networking of all social partners at various levels, to better harmonize economic and educational policy through an exchange of experiences among all participants and based on the very successful results of the GIZ projects “Professional Orientation in Serbia”, “Strengthening Structures for Empowering and Participation of Youth in Serbia” and “Reform of Secondary Vocational Education in Serbia”. The goal is to improve the conditions for improving the status of young people on the labour market, provide companies with a greater availability of required human resources and stimulate entrepreneurship in Serbia.
