The First National Report on Monitoring the Enabling Environment for the Development of Civil Society in Serbia, in conformity with standards and indicators of the Matrix for Monitoring Enabling Environment for the Development of Civil Society has been presented in April 2014 in Belgrade.
The report contains findings and recommendations for the defined areas regarding the development of civil society, compared to the existing international and regional legal standards and practices which determine and condition the development of civil society in Serbia. Findings and recommendations are related to three main areas relevant to the development of CSOs: the fundamental legal guarantees of freedom, framework of financial viability and sustainability of CSOs, and relations between the Government and CSOs.
Drafting and presenting the report is part of the project “Acquis of Balkan Civil Society – strengthening the potential and capacity of civil society for public representing and monitoring.” The main stakeholder is BCSDN, which has been supported by the European Commission. Civic Initiatives, as a member of BCSDN network, monitor the supportive environment for the development of civil society in Serbia.
