The first meeting of the working group for negotiations on Chapter 28 on health and cosumer protection was held in Belgrade on 10 July. The working group will represent the civil society in negotiations with the EU in these two areas within the framework of the National Convent. The WG Coordinator, Nebojša Lazarević from the Centre for European Policies stated that the most important task of the WG would be to develop comments and recommendations on the negotiation position of Serbia that will be taken after Serbia gets a green light to open the chapter.
The Chapter 28 Working Group has more than 15 members: associations for consumer protection, chambers of commerce and non-governmental organisations dealing with consumer rights and health care improvement, and several other organistions have announced their joining in. The National Convent on EU has more than 250 organisations and CSO coalitions from all over Serbia. It has been divided into 21 working group in order to monitor the negotiations and implement reforms in the areas subject of 35 negotiations chapters.
